Hi FD,
The case was in pretty good condition to begin.
I used a brass wire wheel on my bench grinder at a slow speed. For some reason the front part of the case came out looking a bit different than the rear part??
The case has a LITTLE bit of clear on it to stop it from oxidizing.
Regards,
Alan
Not to hijack this thread, but does anyone know if later C3's also have date-coded alternators? The one off my 81 has stampings on the front face partially under the fan blades. The numbers are:
1105 552 85A
9203 12v Neg
Any way to ID it? I suspect it's a GM replacement.
Did the alternators on C3 Corvettes have a specific part number, or are they just date coded?
They also had broadcast codes black ink stamped on them. In the case of my 71 alt 1100544, 61Amp, 1C8 (March, 8th 1971), 12V Neg, the broadcast code is RH & A. Over time these ink stamped codes would disappear.
