How often, or should i rebuild, my motor in my stock c3, it has 76,000mi and all are low speed/show miles except for a few instances of course. Or are compression checks and tuning good enough to keep a motor healthy? Other than the obvious lube and TLC
If the compression test is done properly and all cylinders are within 10 psi [or so] of each other, that tells you that the rings and valves are sealing adequately. If your engine does not blow smoke at start-up [indication of bad valve seals in the heads], nor does it smoke when running (worn rings/cylinders)...and your engine has 'decent' power at WOT, leave the engine alone--it doesn't need a rebuild, yet.
Mileage isn't a good estimator of when an engine needs a rebuild. Low speed miles are harder on an engine than higher speed miles. Start-ups are hardest on an engine, as there is little lube on parts and it is 'cold'.
If oil and filter changes have been regular, good quality oil used, and the engine not abused 76K miles is not "high mileage" for a Chevy V8.
