Default price help

Hi guys, my Father is looking at a 1980 with:
4spd
55K miles
good tires, and running gear
under carriage is clean, no rust, or rot
nice fresh red paint, nice black interior, mirrored top

basically stock, no real mods or changes, a redone car clean record.

He has an 86 Z51 to trade in on it.

What do you guys think the 1980 car is worth? (asking $10.8K)

10.8K ls not to far out in left field if indeed it is as you say. There's lots of vettes for sale.

So it is only a fair price at best even for all that the car is?

Probably 155K not 55K.
If it where a 55K car it should not have needed a rehab.

Look for wear on the gas and clutch pedal. A 55K car should show little wear. If the carpet is original, how much wear under the drivers pedals?

Pics would help, but assuming it's actually a 155K mile car, the suspension bushings are probably original, dry, and worn, the trans may or may not need service soon, what do the seats and carpet look like? What do the rubber body seals look like? Did you check the body mounts for rust? The bird cage for rust? A fresh, pretty paintjob could be hiding a lot. Beauty is only skin deep.

$8K-$10K tops. If it's truly a 55K car, I'd say $10K. If it's honestly a higher mileage '80 I'd say less.

No this is really probably 55k, I am not sure why the fresh paint, not brand new, but with in the last 5 years or so he said.
The bottom is clean too he said
He knows cars for the most part, he is just trying to see if it is actually a good deal.

I though tit is if he trades in his car, and maybe 1K.

i might be able to find pics from a web site.

Recently, a 78 Silver Car in good original nic with 60,000 miles sold for $13,900. Some documenation.

An 81 with 35,000 miles (documented) in great condition sold for $15,500.

An undocumented-mileage, #'s matching 80 4spd if it looked good, drove well with no rust upon a real inspection and everything works (A/C and headlights specifically), personally, I'd be paying around the $10K-$11K mark without any major hesitation. Ahhh... where abouts is this car located and whats the phone number

As for the paint... it would have been repainted because the factory paint is absolutely appalling and after 25 years would have looked a faded pink if it had seen the sun for any amount of time.

If you are truly interested, I think he is going to pass, but not because of the car itself, but because he found a 70 mach1 4 speed.

The car is in WI. at a lentz dealer.
