Last fall I was blessed enough to get the car that I have always want since the time I was eight years old, a 76 vette. It is in good shape, so there is nothing the I "Must Do" to it immediately. However like all 33year old cars it has a few missing pieces. I have been able to identify/locate most things through the forums and various aftermarket part sites. The one thing that I am not able to find anywhere is the duct to go from the fresh air vent (*****) to the inlet above the kick panel. I have seen some information for Air conditioning ducts, but I do not have AC. I assume that it is some type of flexable tubing, but can not find any information on it anywhere.
...I assume that it is some type of flexable tubing...
These are somewhat flimsy plastic tubes. They bend a little, but would not meet the definition of completely "flexible." They are part of the Astro-Ventilation system on the non-AC cars. They are paired; a left and a right.
Post in the For Sale/Parts Wanted section and you might scare up a pair. They might pop up in used Corvette parts on eBay.
The salvage vendors usually have a few at Corvette swap meets. You will likely have to buy one in rusty/very used condition and refurbish it. Not a big task. You might try the internet to find suppliers of "Used Auto Parts Corvette".
BAHHHHHHHH.
I HAD a 78 non air car and just scrapped those ducts yesterday!.......Ill check and see if the garbage bin has been emptyed yet.........assuming they are the same for a 76....don't know.
I have noticed that most dash pads that end up on everybody’s favorite online auction site do not have the vent either and I have looked for reproduction and can’t find anyone that makes them. There is one and it’s been there for a while on the big E… the seller wants $50 plus $20 for freight. I have been hold’n out for a cheaper one myself. Heck I hear some folk are even throw’n them out.
Way to go.....rub it in.....
The ducts are gone, but I have the "vent". In a 78, the square air deflector that also incorporates the air flow shut off......if anybody is looking for 2.......78 non air car.
