Default Seat will not fold

My 78 seat wont fold. I tried to mess with the button, fell off. What do you suggest I do?

The inertia mechanism in your seat hinge is stuck. Remove the hinge, clean it, lube it, and reinstall.

I didn't have a feeler gauge so I used a razor blade. Got it by poking around a few times.

Is this under the button or where?

Not too sure what kind button you are talking about? I don't recall any buttons on the seats on my 81, they should be the same.

On my 78, there is a button on the back, it seems to be jammed.

When you lift the button it releases the mechanism and the seat will tilt forward. The inertia mechansim is design to prevent your seat from tilting forward during hard stopping without a passenger. The mechansim is in the seat hinge and is probably dirty or rusty.

Now how will I do this, apparently I am stupid. Will this require me taking off the seat, and the seat back?

I'm not sure how you get to the 78 mechanism. On my 79 it's easy, but looks more complicated on your 78 as your hinges are different.

10 year-old thread, David. Might want to start a new thread with your question.
