Default Corvette body composition

Something I have heard from time to time is that over the years the composition of the fibreglass body matieral of the Corvette has changed.

Anyone know what changes to that composition, if any, has taken place?

Press molded polyester resin (trade name Genite) for 68-70. Rear quarter panels on the 71s were SMC (sheet molded compound). Most of the 72 panels are SMC. 73 and up, all SMC.

Hi 55P,
You can see the difference in appearance in the 2 materials in this picture. Fortunately paint can't tell the difference.
Regards.
