Default Ok I am cheap

The door panels on the 1978 are in bad bad shape, I am too cheap to pop a couple hundred bucks for door panels. Has anyone ever just purchased pleated vinyl, cut to size, glued and stapled the fabric in place? If so what kind of glue?

The headliner on my 1984 coupe was saking and looked like crap, so i went to a fabric shop and bought a few yards of light gray flannel and striped off the old black felt. I also got a 3X4 piece of 1/4 inch foam and a can of 3M adhesive. I spent about $23.00 and have had a new headliner that's been up there for twelve years now. I'm far from cheap, but I'm not spending $50.00 on something that I can do myself in the basement for half of that !
