Get yourself a 4 post lift for your garage if you have over 9 feet of ceiling height. They are reasonably priced now and my only regret was that I didn't do it years ago.
I got them at a discount during a promo and have been really happy with them. I use them for all of my cars by just marking the garage floor where they belong for each car. I pull the car back, put the ramps in place, and drive up onto them. They even work on my Z06, as low as it is- for the 69 there's plenty of clearance. You may be able to save a few $$$ by going with the shorter version for your car. Call them if you're interested- they know what works for different cars and they run sales from time to time.
I built these and love them. Use them ALL the time. Actually park the car on them in the garage. When I want to work on something it is already up and ready. Very easy to clean at this height too.

Thanks for the link! I like Shel's design with all the electrical goodies installed, too.
Any fear of the wheels going off when going onto and off the ramps?
I've installed a 4ft wide X 2ft high mirror on the back wall of the shop and angled it so I can watch the front tires climb up the ramp. Also put a 4x4 stop at the front so I don't drive off the front end without the mirror and no one else there to guide me on I was sometimes off by as much as 1/3 of a tire hanging of the edge. It was scary but never did fall off. The mirror REALLY helps as there is usually no one around to help guide me on.
If you are really concerned about going off the ramps then maybe use 2x12's instead of 2x10's. Two years ago when lumber was up in price it cost me a little over $200 to build.
Its amazing how easy it is to work on the car on them. As said earlier I really like the height for washing it with my waterless car wash solution. I have a chair on rollers and just roll around the car and do everything below the top of the doors. Very easy to spend time on the wheels when they are at eye level. The top of the car after rolling it off the ramps then only takes a few minutes and it's all done. Ready for another cruise.
With it ALWAYS on the ramps I frequently slide under it and check everything out from underneath. Wiping it down if necessary.
Some people are concerned about the side to side stability but I have never had a problem with it. I've even tried to push it sideways and it doesn't move.
I buy steel ramps, and when needing clearance for Clarance, I jack the cars up with a 2x4-4x4 on the jack, far as I can, then put a stand under it, then drop the jack and stick another couple 4x4's on top of the jack, then raise the car enough to stick the ramps under the front wheels, in the back I still use the heavy stands....
that way I can slide a RR locomotive under the damn thing if necessary, and I don't have to deal with any lifts and krazy gear in my small 2 car garage....
