Well after 10 years of ownership and restoModding I said goodbye to my 71 convertible. I had lost interest in it over the last several months and when I was offered what I wanted for it I took it. Thanks to everyone here on the forum both past a present for all of your advise, help and encouragement. I think I am going to take a break from old cars for a while. But who knows. There may be a Chevelle, Nova , or camaro in my future. If that is the case I am sure it will be black and eventually have a BB in it. So maybe BlackRat is not gone for good. it may just move on to another form.......

I hate to hear that Wade. I have always enjoyed watching the posts when others build their cars. But I can understand where you are coming from with all that you have been through with the BlackRat. It seems like it was one thing after another for a while. Did you ever get the chance to enjoy it like you wanted to? Maybe that was the reason you may have lost interest. I can see that happening.
Don't forget about us here on the forum. Come back and let us know what it is you wind up with when you do buy something else.
Thanks all! I will pop in from time to time to see what is going on.
Eddie,
I did finally get the kinks worked out especially with the oil pressure. Once I got the synthetic oil out of the engine and went back with conventional oil. Cold idle at 1000 rpm's I had 60 psi. At hot idle I had 20-25 and shot back to 50-60 when I took off. I do think that all the little weird stuff that would happen finally took its toll on me. But the last couple of months I had it on some long cruises with no issues. I hope it continues to be a good car for the guy that bought it. He is from NJ and I told him about the forum so hopefully he will pop up on hear at some point.
Wade...hate to see you sell it off after all the time you put into it..but we've all been there at one point or another. Sometimes it's best to just put them away for awhile until the interest comes back.
But I'm sure you'll be back with something else...you've got $$$ burning a hole in your pocket right now!!
Wade-
I've always admired your car and enjoyed reading about it thru the good and bad times. Hate to see you VetteLess, but it's about more than just a particular car, so I wish you the best with your next ride.

Jim. Your help was definately invaluable. that cam that you helped me with was a real monster and brought the car to life! I will be looking for you when i put my next motor together... ;-)
If anyone knows of a project 1969 Chevelle in the south east let me know. I am looking for something that is not # matching, probably needs paint and some interior work. I want it to be a running driving car but trying to keep price down.
thanks again to all of my friends on CorvetteForum!!!!
Sorry to hear that Wade. Was wondering if you had gotten the oil pressure issue resolved. Good luck, you'll have another project soon.
Jim
Thanks Jim! the oil pressure problem was the RP synthetic that I put in it. Everyone can argue but I know what I saw with synthetic and it was not good. I am sure that the syn is fine in some motors but not in mine. I advised the guy that bought it to not under any circumstances run synthetic. With conventional, Cold idle at 1000 rpm's I had 60 psi. At hot idle I had 20-25 and shot back to 50-60 when I took off. I recommended Rotella T or VR1 which is what I had in it when I sold it.
I hope to have another project but the prices on some of the stuff I like are just plain rediculous.... Junk is bringing a fortune right now......
Wade
Wade, I understand completly. I think if someone came along and offered me a good price for mine it would find a new home. I'm looking to build someting different. Good luck with the new project when you find it. Stay in touch here though.

I think junk is being kind I'm done after this project is complete. My Mustang needs another overhaul, been finished & driving it for 16 years now. Not sure I have the energy to go through the car again, but don't want to part with it either.
Something will come along, usually when you're not lookin'
