I need to cut a hole in my 1978 Corvette to clear a Weiand 671 Blower. What is the best tool to do it with??? Jigsaw? what tooth size?
Grinder with cutoff wheel? Any other choices?

Are you planning to repaint the hood or just touch up the cut edge?
You can get a very smooth cut with a very fine metal blade in a sabre saw. You can scribe around the cut line with a razor knife and cut a little inside of that for a clean paint edge. Sanding drums of various sizes will finish corners....

use a jigsaw with a fine tooth metal blade... make sure your setting on the saw is straight up and down (not osculating-circular motion-this is more aggressive)...some jigs have those settings like bosch....i would cut small and then grow the line as needed... block sand the edge and paint black (or hood color)....

I used a cut off wheel.....remember the hole opening will need more clearance at the back unless it's a clip on hood that can be lowered straight down over blower.

With the motor in the car, I measured in from the sides and the front to the blower case, and snout also taking in consideration for the linkage and fuel lines. I taped off the hood and looked at it to make sure it was symmetrical. I think I used the bottom of spray paint cans for the radius's. Whatever arc size you like.

I drilled holes through the hood for starting locations and turns. I also used a reciprocating saw. I found blades that were diamond coated. The diamond coated blades worked great! I cut it a bit frsmall, and filed and sanded it to size.

Heres a shot with the little 144 blower. I couldn't find a great straight shot of the 6-71 like yellow 72. Here's a ok shot with the 6-71 too.
