The lines between general and tech are frequently blurred. Look up Jim Shea's articles on corvettefaq.com and you should find all the answers that you will need regarding steering columns.

Not sure about your 70', but I installed a 76' T/T in my 71' without any problems. Hardest part was finding a hub so I could use the 71' wheel. I think they are repoping them now.

Besides purists and people with perfect columns there many reasons that anyone with the early c3 should update....I plan to run the column from a 82 CE in my 69
