I have a 95 vette.
I am looking for a C3 with a carb.
I don't want anything that is computer controled.
I want a carb abd a stick shift.
What should I look for.
I should be able to get 9000-9500 for my car
I’m a fellow C4'er.... I guess (transplant car). I would look for a 73(rear chrome bumper), 74 or 75 in my own opinion. They aren’t the coveted full chrome bumpers, but still a very nice ray. I bought my 74 for $7500, that was 7 years ago, I don’t really know if prices have changed. If anything they have gone down because of the recession.
You just have to shop for the right one, and start doing some research about buy a C3. Where to look for rust and common problems, such as bird cage rust, and front radiator support rust.
Buy a nice example of a 1980 Corvette. No computer and they look awesome. Not easy finding a 4-speed, but you can find a decent one that is within your budget.

I would look for an 80. I really like the late model C3's the best, and they are by far the most comfortable, the seats are better and less prone to rust in the birdcage due to more use of galvinization. You can get power everything but the drivers seat it started in 81. You can also get an 81, it is not hard or expensive to remove the computer and swap the carb and dist to make one a non computer car, I did mine.
I have never "coveted" a chrome bumper car, but to each his own. 9K will get you a nice late model C3.
You didn't indicate what kind of condition you expect that $9500 C3 to be in. If you want it 'ready to roll', you're probably going to be limited to 1974-1979 cars. For around $10K, you should be able to find a nice 74-79 C3. It's possible that a 73 could be had for that price, but you'd have to get a little lucky to find one in good condition for that price.
For $10K, a 68-72 car will still need a lot of work.
