Default 81 Vert conversion

Im considering selling my 81 vert conversion. Im really unsure of its value and are thinking of placing it on ebay and let the market set a price since ebay seems to be the place for this kind of item and now is the right time of the year.

Anyone else here buy or sell a car on ebay before? What was your take of the whole process? Any quick primers on what works best?

Good luck. Expect a lot of tire kickers and more questions than you want to answer.

He said vert conversion. Since the 81 didn't have a convertable option, I think it is an 81 that has been converted to a convertable, they look awesome if done right.

Is it a one off, or done by a company that was offering that service "back in the day"? Either way, unless the workmanship is exceptional, it will bring less than a stock '81. /:\

If the conversion done right, and I get to choose between a stock (even a no. matched one) '81 and 'vert '81, I will take the 'vert hands down. It sure will look much more unique than a stock '68-'75 one.

I agree, it's just a non factory "conversion" will scare away a lot of potential buyers (granted, it only takes one) but suppy and demand will keep the price down (I know, I own a custom myself).

Define "conversion".

Gold car has been on eBay a couple of times. I believe the pic of the silver car also came off eBay, but don't quote me on that.

I can promise you this one is done as well as any factory or aftermarket you will ever see. The paint Ill put up against any car here.

The car also had a new GM 350 and speed density TPI installed.

Ill try and get some pics today,

It does make for a unique vehicle. To be honest I think its the car GM should have built.

Mines more like the gold one...

The silver for what it looks like its for, might be fine...but to me just looks like a hacked up vette.

OK, my eyes skipped over the "vert" conversion....

I was in Ft.Lauderdale back in February of '79, and saw a "converted" Corvette in the showroom of a Chevy dealer there. I don't remember for sure, but it might have been a "78 Indy Pace Car". This was a well done job, by a shop there called "Corvette World by Roy Sines". I drove over there to check the shop out, but doubt it's still around. It was a really eclectic shop, and from what they told me, they did 2-3 of these jobs a year.

Hoby - post up some pics
Most 80-82 ragtop conversions (if done well), ask $14-20K

My 82 ragtop will be a VetteRod with an LS drivetrain, suspension goodies, sidepipes and C5 seats, maybe a maggie in the future................
