Default 77 block code

I know my car doesn't have the original engine in it. The block code is ML 11800. Any one have any idea what it is out of? I am trying to figure out wether to add more hp to it or start with a new block.
thanks for the help

The engine suffix code would be more helpful. Unless they have been machined away, you should find two numbers stamped on the block on a pad at the front of the right head. One will be the VIN derivitive of the vehicle the engine was originally installed in; the second stamping will identify your specific engine.

if they are there i can't see them. Lots of grease, oil and plenty of dirt. I will look again when i have more time.
