From: Graceland in a Not Correctly Restored Stingray
Loved my former '92 LT1 6-speed 'vert, but have always been a C3 man at heart (I've had three of them over the years). Original build quality, ride and handling may not have been as good as that of the C4 generation as a whole, but IMHO sharks just look better and are easier to work on / modify to one's liking. Of course, I shouldn't expect you'll get many responses here in the shark tank which disagree...
As for outright performance, with a little work a properly setup C3 can more than hold it's own in the twisty bits, and big horsepower can be installed in most anything. Whether it's pulling G's or pulling wheelies you're after, it really just comes down to how much you are willing to spend.
The looks are cool but you won't be happy with the ride quality, handling, power (from the mid '70s on), convenience, comfort, interior noise, gas mileage, brakes, rattles, stereo,...
As a C4 owner, I can honestly say that the C3 has much more potential to look great. Unfortunately, most C3's are nowhere near their potential, and I've only seen a small handful of truly great C3's. At their best, C3's are better lookers than C4's and can be upgraded to the same level of peformance, just like everthing else.
Overall, the C4 is the superior car..just like the C5 is better overall to the C4. I'd say the C4 is the better daily driver.
It's all a matter of money. I wouldn't mind having a nice C3 one day.

Anyway, hope you decide to dive in.
I have both - the C4 is more comfortable and would make a better daily driver, but the C3 will always look better and attract more attention.

Apples and oranges and you are going to get varying opinions on any message board. In order to get a better idea you should drive a C3 and decide for yourself.
