Was thinking the same thing also.....
I also really enjoyed fabricating the bumper bar, brackets, and cage for the cell!
The instructions will tell you to mount the cell in a cage made of 1" box tube. I really enjoyed welding and fabricating the cage, brackets, and bumper bar. Again, this may not work for you since you have a 77 body...
The SP126B is more of a square shape, and is taller than most other cells. I ordered it with a 45 degree offset filler neck and turned the neck 30degrees. The filler neck is positioned perfectly in the stock filler door opening!
The only complaint I have about this fuel cell (other than the cost) is that it takes a long time to fill. I have to pump the gas very slowly as the neck is very short and the fuel splatters out and shuts off the pump.
In summary, I wouldn't recommend this mod unless you are comfortable with some fabrication and welding. And it will cost probably around $1000 more than a reproduction tank. If you'd like, I can send pics of my installation. PM me if you want them. I didn't renew my .Mac subscription, so my website no longer works.

One thing about these....they hang down pretty good, and wouldn't want that hanging below the back of my car. These cars are plastic, and not even a hard collison would scare me with it hanging low.
I was going to use it in my 68 with the new motor, but .....it's collecting dust too!

If you are interested, then pm me.Ask about the non-bladder tank to redvetracer,or the SkunkWorks. They both are real road racers, and knopw their way around all these mods.
