Drivetrain suggestions
I know fall is long ways away but i want to plan it out now. Im going to pull the motor/transmission/rear out and replace it all.
Im looking at a 383 crate (probably gm, open for suggestion) around 400hp.
Figure i will replace the th400 with a 200r4 any suggestions or comments? should be an easier swap that a manual. keep in mind im doing this myself and i've never done a manual convert before and its probaby beyond what i wanna do. Im thinking bowtie on the tranny probably the best one they make.
Rear end, probably a rebuilt unit from somewhere. No idea where to get this yet, suggestions? Also what gear ratio do I need for good mid range and highway? I dont want to be redlining at 70. But it would be nice to light the tires up too.
Going to put a new drive shaft in also. The half shafts have been done already.
