Default instrument lights

Why would some of my instrument lights work and others don't? I have all new bulbs. I don't have the side, tail or head lights in not sure if that makes a difference.

Not sure on your 77 but my 78 has a circuit board I quess. It more more of a plastic material, behind the tach and speedo. This is were the light sockets make contact for power. there is also one behind the fuel, oil pressure gauges . I replaced mine because some lights were not working and cured problem

it's probably a ground issue if some work and some don't. If you rip everything apart you can ground the ones that aren't working by jumping a wire to them from ground indiviudally. If they come on individually than you have a ground problem.

But, your taillights energize from the orange wire in the connector and that energizes green which energizes the dash lights through the reostat. If that isn't working right you will have problems.
