Default Bolt size needed for spark plug shields

Greetings!

I need the bolt and thread size needed to attach the spark plug shields
to the block. I see the female threads in the block but I didn't want to
guess and use one that looked correct only to strip out the threads.

Thanks.

Rudy

You won`t strip any threads is you use your fingers to run it in instead of a wrench I think they are 1/4 20 but I wouldn`t bet my dog on it

1/4-20 Thread. Make sure you use the correct length as the hole is not very deep so the bolts are rather short. I think 1/2" long.

Great advice, cuz if you use a 1/4-20 (correct), which is too long, and you snug it too much, and it breaks off in the hole, now you have got yourself a major problem!

Chuck

Gents,

Thanks to all who replied.
This does appear to be the correct side.
I bought (16) #8 1/4 - 20 by 1/2" today and plan on painting them this
week with high heat paint and put on the car over the weekend.

Have a good week.

If those are Grade 3 (soft steel) bolts, they only get torqued to about 8 ft-lbs.
