Default Big Block brackets???

I was going to tag my other bb thread with this question but it seems to be a popular question without straight up answers in one easy to find place

How about a listing of all the stock brakets with part numbers too if you have them for the bb engines,

Also if there are aftermarket set ups like serpentine list those too,

Any tips or tricks to bb's in the c3's would be cool.

And I know some of you might have some cool pictures of the brakets, pulleys and belts all set up and ready to rock you would like to share...

Many thanks!

Here's a few pics of my March serpentine setup on my ZZ454. I paid about $800 for all the brackets, pullies, hardware and alternator. After seeing how much it would cost for the original style brackets, I'm glad I paid what I did to get a nice looking, perfect fit serpentine setup. It all bolted right up to the engine with no modding or asking myself the typical question, "now how the hell am I going to make this fit?"

Here's a few shots of the stock brackets for a 73 LS4 w/o Air.

Note the water pump pulley has an extra groove for the A.I.R. Pump

You should be able to look up the part numbers using any of the Corvette Vendor Sites.

I find Zip's site user friendly.

If you need any more detail shots let me know and I take them.

Thanks guys for great examples of both ways, man, I love those clean squared away engines....

Would the 800.00 price tag of the serpentine really be cheaper than stock?

Hey east...which dewitts are you running...I plan to buy his product come payday.

I'm not sure of the stock prices exactly, but I do remember when doing research a year ago, numbers given by other forum members were a lot higher than I expected for stock brackets. Basically, it turned out to be only slightly more to go with the nice, shiny March system (plus I needed a new high amp alternator anyways). I figured stock brackets would be significantly less, but the smaller difference made it an easy choice for me.

I didn't price the stock brackets because luckily, they came with car.
I would think the serpentine set-up would cost a little more. Especially if you go with polished billet components.

My DeWitts rad is his SP034 dual fan combo set-up for a 73 big block automatic.

My car has a 4-speed but I thought it would be nice to have capacity for auxilary cooling of an external device in the future.

I suggest buying the complete package.
The grief saved by not putting together an fan package after the sale is well worth the money.

You will be happy with it!

I have all the GM part numbers for the brackets, but none of them are available from GM anymore. All of the brackets are repro-ed though. Are you planning on power steering and/or AC, because the brackets vary depending on the set up.

The 2 brackets for a alternator only car run about $110. The brackets for a power steering/alternator (the alt & ps share some brackets on BB cars) set up run $180. A set of 66-74 BB AC brackets run about $210.

Where this can get expensive is the pulleys. The repro 3 groove water pump pulley runs $200, the cast crank pulley $175 and the cast PS pulley about $110.

That sound about what I remember. So, $485 for all the parts + shipping. I paid $150 for the alternator I think, so subtract that from the $800 and subtract shipping...it was probably about $600 for the March bracket/pullies. I'd rather pay $115 more for the serpentine billet setup than the original brackets. That's just what I did though.

FlyViper...
What is the part number for the March system, are you runnung the short water pump?
I have a 69 vert with a ZZ454 & DeWitts rad and electric fan system, all I've been able to find are kits for long water pumps BB cars!
I just need the alernator/ power steering set up.

Try this link: March Side Mount

I used part 20540. Looks like you would need 20580. I see the note about 55-57 Chevy or 67-69 Camaro, but I don't understand why in the hell it would work on those apps, but not a vette. A ZZ454 in a vette is the same as in a Camaro. I talked to a sales guy named Elijah who was very helpful and knowledgeable. My advice is call them and ask about that part working in the vette. I'm using an Edelbrock 8850 with the setup and definitely recommend it. Also, you can deal with them a bit on price...especially if you need other parts like a water pump or alternator.

i belive Pargon corvettes had a kit of brackets that cost 160 plus shiping that coverd all the alternator brackets and the power steering. i found them to be cheaper than zip, ecklers, mamovette, and others. oh and that also included all the bolts washers and came with a detail on how it instals with pictures(very helpful) paragon is just about 10-30 dollars cheaper on most all corvette stuff from my buying experiance.. some of the brackets were reproductions made in USA some were n.o.s.. how are the weatherboots treating you bats? oh and there is now getting around the tremendous cost of the pullys

Hey Bats, here is an article where a guy used small block serpentine and used adapter brackets to put it on a big block.

I remember seeing a thread on here about the belt numbers as well for a big block. It seems that parts stores always give you the wrong belts for some reason for big block cars.

I think also if you go with a serpentine belt set up, you have to get the reverse flow water pump... Not 100% sure, but I think I remember reading that.

Neptune, yep that looks correct on the alt bracket on the water pump bolt. I have a link from this forum where a member pulled his original BB out and took a bunch of good pics of where all the stock brackets/pulleys go. I am working on a BB build, so I have been watching similar threads. If you want that link let me know.
