Unless it is cracked or further damaged, straighten it out and bend it properly and reuse it....AFTER you have cleaned out all the old hard grease from the lock mechanism [that is causing it to stick] and relubing it with white lithium grease (from a tube, not a spray can).

Just realized your in the Cape , I work on a couple vettes in the Cape when I'm down there for the season.
I agree with 7T1 clean the lock up and lube the pivot , thats usually what causes the rod to get bent.
