im not referring to the L-88, only the LT-1/big block hoods, there seems to be 2 type of quality?
Yes. There is press molded or hand laid, fiberglass hoods. The press molded is smooth on the underside, this is the same type fiberglass as original GM glass. Hand laid is has a rough finish on the underside, like the inside of a boat hull. Sermershiem's probably make the best press molded hood, but it will cost you about $1,200. Forum Supporting Vendor ACI makes an excellent hand laid glass hood which sells for about half the cost of a press molded hood.
Press molded hoods are a far higher quality part, but if your not doing an NCRS car, the hand laid one may work just as well for your Corvette.

I see a lot of the dealers are selling 2 different priced big block hoods? I assume one is better obviously, but anyone know the difference?
This one is a press molded hood, copied from a 68 hood. Bought it at Carlisle two years ago & then found an original available at a reasonable cost so I ended up using that one. I'll send you a PM
