Default It finally feels like I am getting somewhere

When I brought it home the frame was painted and had the front suspension completed with new parts. Now this is where I am at. I hope to get the body out of the garage this weekend clean it up paint the underside and in a couple weeks put it back on the frame. Then it is body work all winter and maybe some paint in the spring.

Looking good so far. You need a couple of thing like brake lines, and a body, but before you know it you will be saying 'it's time to start this thing'. Try to accomplish something every week no matter how minor the project might be and you will be on the road sooner than you think.

Went through the exact same deal as of last October car is on the road and is almost ready for paint now. Yours looks really good. Be prepared that once the body goes on it seems to take forever to get anywhere that You can look at it and see big improvements.Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi 72,
Great pictures!!!
There's something beautiful about a nice frame and running gear. It's almost a shame to put the body on.
Have Fun!
Regards,
Alan

Funny you should say that. I pulled the body out of the garage to night and started looking at it. I didn't inspect too close when I bought it because I knew it needed work. When the body goes on it might acutualy take a few steps backwards. It's pretty rough. The right quarter where it comes around for the exhaust is not right. It was wrecked at some point, and they didn't do a very good job putting it back together. It should have a lip in this area for the bezal to attach to, but they reconstructed it with putty. I will have to find a replacement panel of some sort to put in there I think. I don't think my talents inclued fabricating one. I will try to get a couple pictures of the back tomorrow and post them.

Actually, the original color is blue. The yellow is the result of a repair at some point I think. It looks like it was hit in the back. The frame shows some evidents of an accident and the mess under the back of the car kind of backs that up. The original color is 979 Targa Blue Metallic. If it wasn't for the interior being blue, I might consider yellow, but yellow and blue are not a great mix, and I don't want to replace the whole interior.

My guess is the rear clip is from a 69- looks like Daytona yellow. I also like blue, and a blue interior sure limits your options! Alan 71 was right- it seems a shame to cover such a great looking undercarriage!

Default Body work

Well, I have been stripping the paint off the body before it goes back on the frame. The vapor valve I ordered is on back order, so I have plenty of time to finish the stripping project. Most of the paint is off the front clip, and the glass looks pretty good up there. The paint was cracked all the way to the last layer. The back on the other hand. I figured it had been wrecked at some point based on what I saw on the frame. I was hoping it was fixed properly and would not need a lot of attention. Yeah, I was wrong. Hope to have the last of the paint off the body by next weekend, but we will have to see.

Missed a picture of the back, but they patched in a piece of the deck, and not very well actualy. Will have to see how back when the rest of the paint is off.

Enjoy the pictures.
