Zip sells them. Part number M-2639

Lots of fun changing that part!

Are you referring to the "V" shaped reinforcement bar that is attached to the underside of the surround panel, between the headlight opennings and the hood?

It is the hood surround panel reinforcement and is repro-ed by Bair's. The list price is $75. Up to around 72, these were riveted to the surround panel. In later years they are bonded in and this is definitely the way to go when replacing one.

I assumed you needed this header bar for the 73 clip, but I just read you are changing to the Maco clip this weekend.

Do both clips use the same part?

Well, here is the deal..Lol,

Headlights have always been something of a pain in the butt afterthought for the mako clips...

All the mako clips I have seen sans one either use what I feel are ugly Corvette Summer-ish headlights cut into the nose or then some use headlights in the grill, an illegal custom classic, it's rather dated and kit car -ish to me....I like it but wanted to be different,

My 73 clip that came on my 69 has some cool ( to me ) custom square quad headlights in the stock pop up units, so after seeing these recessed lamps in a mako and realizing stock lamps will fit and my wife saying she loves the pop ups I wanted to dare to be way different and install the pop ups in the Mako clip.

I planned to use one linear actuator to open both lights to do away with all the vaccum clutter stuff...at the worse if it doesnt suit my tastes I fill in the holes....

Sounds good, see what shipping to 32804 would be...

Okay, I admit I should know far more about this item, I have installed more recessed light kits in c3's than I can count, but I am in mental fog....the stock pop ups bolt to the bar that is bolded/rivited to the underside...correct?

Perhaps there are pictures or threads about installing pop ups...

Yep...jogged like a hit in the family jewels with a cattle prod....
I will keep those pictures...you do wonderful work!

In my mind the stock pop ups didnt have all that "stuff" to the rear of them, bummer...no way they will fit a stock mako clip with the dips in the mako hood...

Hitting that damn deer in the '98 fires here in Florida, deer here are very small, about the size of a German Shepard....not like the Bambi's up north....

so anyway, it took out both operating headlights....

blessing in disguise....must have cut 500 lbs off the nose of that car....
