Default Ignition Shield differences on Big Block

Any difference between the 1968 - 1970 E and the 1970L to 1974 Big Block Ignition Shields?

Any complications with using one as oppossed to the other?

The 68-70E seems longer than the 70L - 74
any hang ups with interferance between the open air cleaner element used from the 68-70 as oppossed to the 70L-74?

Need any input here guys..

Thanks

I think the only real difference is the distributor shield. Early cars used a can with a lid (two parts); later cars used an L shaped shield (one part) with no separate lid.

If you intend to have your car judged, you will want the shielding specified in the AIM or the NCRS Judging Manual.

Thanks for the reply.

I have the Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner like Thrustfuljet has, and wondered if any clearance issues if I got the early type 68-70E Ignition Shield?

Talked to Ecklers and they didn;t seem to think there was a difference. But I thought of asking here as you guys probably know best.

Probably not.

FWIW: the later one-piece distributor shield is easier to fool with for tune-ups, etc.
