I had to share my misery with the forum. 2 1/2 years of work to get my project to paint. Loaded on the trailer to go to the paint shop. (Kearneys, Sacramento) Arrived at the shop and prepared to unload. Well, to make a long story short, the ramps jumped off and the rear of the car dropped off the back of the trailer. Rear quarters and bonded rear bumper will need to be reworked. Loaded and ready Damage More damage
My options at this point were to reload it and bring it back home for repairs or just let the shop do it. Getting weary of fiberglass dust so the guys at Kearneys will fix my mess.
The bright spot in the whole day is that the next time I see the car it will be Milli Migula red and ready for interior.
Sorry to hear than man That really sucks. Thank God i happened before the new paint.
It happens, and yes better now than after being painted, but if you look at it this way, s**t has already happened to the car, so know all will be good, good luck on your project and shoot some pics for us, after it is painted.
that really sucks! I hope the enjoyment of seeing it finished will make the trailer incident a distant memory. It may even be funny one day, but not today.
Even though the start of the paint work went a little rough, it sure beats having the car in "paint jail" for months or years, as has happened to some people.
I've got to give these guys credit. The shop is Kearneys in Sacramento. Kevin Kearney started the business doing Corvette work and has expanded into trucks, trailers, equipment and most anything else that needs paint. They do my fleet work (We have a small fleet of dump trucks) so it was natural to let them do the Vette.
I have not seen it in person yet but I expect it to be show quality.
Hi Blain,
Your car certainly looks great!
So what you're saying is that when the paint comes out of the gun it's just as happy to land on a Corvette as a "small fleet of dump-trucks'?
Are they red too?
Good Luck as you finish your car !
Regards,
Alan
Your car has made a fantastic recovery! Kudos to Kearney's shop for making this right in such a timely fashion. Btw, it's "Mille Miglia", and it looks like a million bucks.
