registration in FL
thanks
Edit - they will need to verify the VIN on the vehicle so it either needs to be present upon registration or verified by an LEO.

I should have just paid cash for it but USAA had no problems financing it completely so I thought what the hell, beats taking a huge chunk out of my bank account. Oh well. at least i have the title for every other car.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
They did verify my VIN on the car.....I brought the title, and proof of insurance, drivers licence, and my check book. Note: if you are comming from out of state...isn't there an impact fee?
If memory serves I think there "may" be....might want to check into that..
Otherwise...nothing like driving year round and starting October through April is really nice weather. Right now its freaking HOT!!!!
btw...sounds like you picked up a really nice White 72 Convert 454 !!!!

1600 bucks just to change my tags. the military lets me keep my texas plates if i stay a texas resident but you cant claim the homesteading tax credit if you arent a florida resident. Of course I did see something where incoming military is exempt from the fee so here's hoping. I am going to be in the melbourne area. Hopefully there is someone there that can finally set my carb and timing up on my new 454 crate motor. It was installed while I have been over in Korea. I put a few hundred miles on it when I went home on leave but no tuning yet. I think I will be ok on the radiator thing. It still has the original BB radiator in it but as part of the new motor i had it boiled out and checked over and added an electric fan. It never went over 190 in san antonio. I cant imagine florida being any hotter than texas. of course since the AC is sitting in the storage shed i dont drive it when the outside temp gets in the triple digits anyway. I did learn real quick though to keep a hat in the car when the top is down. I burned the crap out of my head when I first got it.

Rob
Did it just a few months ago. Tags doubled from last year.
Welcome to Florida

Wife just came back from tag agency this afternoon.
Back in March she renewed the plates but they gave her a sticker ($37.40) for a Corvette we had sold over a year ago and she didn't notice it until she got home. The manager told her she had to apply for a refund from the state, but on the form, it said there had to be included the reason for the refund, on the letterhead of the tag agency, which the tag agency refused to give her. So the new registration was another $87.40. So presently we have $124.80 invested in the sticker that should have been $37.40.
Another episode, a year ago, she bought renewals online, but one never came in the mail, so after a few months of conversing with the state, we ended up paying another $37.50 for a new sticker replacement. We kept the online receipt in the vehicle, but depending on the cop and situation at the time, paying the second fee would probably be a lot cheaper.
A few years ago, I went to get registration stickers for a trailer I hadn't used in about 10 years. The manager in a very rude and loud manner insisted I had to catch up all the renewals to a sum of a few hundred dollars. This went back and forth a couple times with probably 40 annoyed people behind me. Then I just politely asked her to either call the DMV or give me the affidavit I have to fill out to avoid that. She walked off without a word and an employee came back with the affidavit.
So. if you are going to do any of the military stuff, take the info with you in writing, just in case.
You'll soon learn that no one ever makes mistakes in Florida, just ask them.
Welcome to Florida
I am kind of guesing you are going to be at Patrick AFB...
Mabye you can talk with someone on base about military exemptions for vehicles/registrations and home purchases/homesteading.
You do have a 60 or 90 days window to "technically" get the cars registered in FL. FL has some funny laws with regard to lapse of coverage and associated fees.
Are you insured with USAA? If so, maybe they can be of help.
