Power Steering hose leaking help
On my 70 with power steering, During the resto all the power steering items were replaced and i have a leak where the hose attaches to the power valve. It's not pouring out, just enuff to annoy the hell out of me. I replaced the hose and it still has the same problem. Is there anything i can coat the threads with? Teflon tape maybe? I'm open to ideas..

Hopefully you didn't overtighten it the first time. Too much torque on a pipe thread can cause the valve housing to crack. The other possibility is that the hose and/or hose end are defective. And, no, don't use any Teflon tape on any hi-pressure fittings. If you want to [or need to] put it on the return line to the P/S pump, that would be no problem.

Some of the cars have a 'O' ring seal and others have a flare nut for a fitting....And they both physically look alike. One other problem is that the hose fitting screws into a cast iron threaded port....These are rebuilt parts and the port itself may be damaged and not thoroughly inspected when rebuilt. The other is a accidentally possible cross thread. .
