I finally got my headers and sidepipes installed this week. I ordered them on April 11 and and to send them back 3 times because of problems. It was a long wait but worth it!
I went with the Jet-Hot group buy that was offered this spring and got the STS spiral baffles and Steel Shields.
The video is not the best, not sure why the sound did not come through better, but I think you get the point. I was afraid it was going to be monster loud, but once you get going down the road they mellow out and are not much louder than the old exhaust.
Sidepipes do rock, but the heat shields rock too! Before I put them on, I already got a nice raspberry on the back of my calf. I went out for a nice long ride today and put my hand on the heat shields and it was only warm. I would never ride without them again! They really rock and I think add alot to the look! That's my endorsement!
Do you have to remove the side panels to install the side pipes?
Roger
We did have to notch out the rocker panels to go around the headers as the come out, but nothing major, you would really have to look to see it, but I think it turned out nice!
Hi Birdman,
I'm figuring side exhaust for the FRONT engine...... and those rear exhaust tips for the REAR engine. NICE!!!!
Regards,
Alan
Hi Alan,
You caught me.
I had 3 days to see the car for the first time while back to the states on R&R from Afghanistan before the g/f flew in. In those 3 days, I ripped out all the carpet and replaced it with new, replaced the worn vinyl seat skins with deluxe leather, replaced the speakers with Polk Audios that are hidden, retrosound radio to replace the non-functioning stock unit, and black leather steering wheel to replace that huge teakwood one. I also installed Hooker headers and sidepipes, mechanical fuel pump, and LT1 Hood that I painted to match.
So needless to say...I just plain didn't have time to cut off the existing exhaust piping before the g/f arrived and we headed to Myrtle Beach to start my planned vacation. Oh and I forgot to mention, I also went to a impromptu car show along the way.
Birdman and roger3,
How handy are you with fiberglass? After all the fitment problems I read about with the aftermarket panels (plus I don't like the look) I decided to make mine look as stock as possible. (only 1/4 of the way done)
