Ebay auction - Item number: 260650599651 - 1968 Corvette aluminum license plate. At that price - is this thing rare or something??? I have a couple of aluminum Corvette plates out in the garage - at that price, time to dig them out. Your opinions please. Thanks

That appears to be a plate that has been stripped / glass beaded & ready for a repaint. If it is a "VINTAGE" plate & it's not being used & available to register i would say well worth the money since it's a "ONE OF A KIND". I paid a lot more then that for mine. Mine is a "VINTAGE" New York plate from 1968 & is NOT a Vanity plate, it came off the assembly line in the letter & numerical order you see . You just can't put a price tag on some things. it's a unique one of a kind 40 + year old plate. It's no different then paying $200,000 + for an authentic 1967 - 427- 435 Tri Power vert that was less then $6,000 new in 1967.
Heck, i used to collect beer cans when i was a kid, look on e-bay at an old beer can. Type in " BEER CAN " & you will find cans that are $5,000 & some have sold for $15,000 yes $15,000 for an empty old beer can !!!
Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. The more unique, the more they pay !!!
