The magazine "Corvette Fever" has bitten the dust. Got a notice in the mail today that financial considerations forced the publisher to jettison the mag and now only publish "Vette" magazine.
Not refunding my subscription, just converting it to "Vette."
Never really liked "Vette." Mostly ads.
Gonna miss the great "How Tos" they had in every issue of "Fever."

i had "street rod builder" do the same thing.
only now i get a crap rag" hot rod" mag until nov 2012 most of it is crap from the 60's and 70's
. "street rod builder" was good for info on building any type hot rod /corvette .
typical white person
Does this increase the value of my many years of CORVETTE FEVER that are stored in boxes in my basement?
Regards,
Alan
Back in the 80s there was a 'VetteMate' in each issue!
Only the VetteMates with original parts will be valuable. The ones that have been 'rest-modded', while perhaps being higher performance, are ultimately worth less, mostly for their handling characteristics.
Sorry to hear that "FEVER" has bitten the dust. Back in the day, every Corvette owner had a free subscription to "Corvette Fever". I bought my first Corvette in 1970 (a 69 427, 4 speed) and "Corvette Fever" came automatically.
The strange thing is that AFAICT most people thought Vette was the lesser of the vette magazines out there. I think it was one of those things where Vette bought Corvette Fever to get subscribers, and knew all along it wanted to shut down Corvette Fever.
I think the winner out of this will be Corvette Enthusiest. Unless Vette Magazine beefs up their coverage and How-to's it'll make letting the subscription lapse pretty easy to do.
In the editorial of the most recent issue (the FINAL issue), they indicate that they plan to revamp Vette, bulk it up and improve it's look and feel. Hey, that might not be bad. We'll have to see how it goes.
I personally love the mags. I get Corvette Fever (now Vette), Corvette Magazine (love the look/feel/writing style) and Corvette Enthusiest. Yes you can read things online but to me a hard copy magazine is the way to go. Not only that, but I also bought several years of Corvette Fevers from the 80's. To me, those are the best ones because back then the C3's were contemporary cars and lots of articles about them.
I would really love it if they brought back the VetteMate and the funny caption contest like they used to have. In a way it was corny, but on the other hand it was a lot of fun to read them.
But when you really think about it, is there really a need these days for paper mags? Just about everything is on-line.
Not dissimilar to newspapers across the country. Advertising dollars drive every publication and as their revenue shrinks, the mags or papers get smaller and smaller until they die. There isn't a publication alive that survives on it's circulation numbers and revenue. That's just the way it is.

Made me think of the line from "The Jerk" after Steve Martin has sex with his gold digger wife for the first time. "That was so.... professional."
Not refunding my subscription, just converting it to "Vette."
I emailed the publisher to cancel my subscription (instead of conversion to Vette magazine) and requested a refund for the reminder of my subscription. Received a positive email reply after a week and a check a couple of weeks after that. All you have to do is ask.
The last issues editorial discusses the "New" Vette magazine which will be expanded 16 pages to cover more topics in depth. We'll see. They felt the current market didn't warrant having two magazines about the same kind of car.
I, like others on here, was not happy with the way Alan Colvin was dismissed by the publisher. I will wait and see what the new "Vette" looks like.
Hopefully they will keep on their excellent editorial staff, such as Dave Emanuel and Tom Falconer. There is a market for an excellent combination of the two mags, if done well.
With the C5 and C6 being such great cars for mods and go-fast hardware, one can understand the attention they get from both readers and advertisers. Somebody on here suggested a "Classic Corvette" Mag, focusing mainly on C2 and C3. Now there is a great idea.
Have they stated yet, what will be the last months issue?
The notice I received says October 2010 is the last issue of Corvette Fever. If there's anything left on your Fever subscription, you will begin receiving Vette in November.
My notice doesn't say what happens if you were subscribing to each, but I'm guessing I'll get two copies of Vette before the subscription finally dies.
GD70: One of the problems with CF and Vette is that they forgot about Corvette Enthusiast.
FWIW: Despite the editorial propaganda, if Vette actually wanted to make changes and improve the quality of their magazine, why wait until now? Are they wanting us to believe they could not improve the quality of their content while CF was still around?
