I'm getting ready to put in the booster (I've heard that this is one of the most fun jobs) and then the master cylinder. I've seen posts here saying that a seal/gasket is not required between the master cyliner and boster, but the AIM shows a seal plus some sort of ring. Can someone verify that a seal/gasket is not required and why the AIM shows one? thanks
All I can say is have fun because it's a bitch. I recommend taking out the front seat since you will be lying on your back to get to the 4 bolts and connector. Mine did not have a seal to the MC but did have a small one to the firewall. However it was already glued to the PB. My old PB didn't have a seal to the MC either for what it's worth
From some of your other posts it looks like your dash is already out if that is the case putting a PB booster in is not all that bad. With my dash all ready out it took me less than 30 minutes to install I would have hated to do it with it in. It took me longer to get the clip on the pedal clevis pin. On my 71 there is a rubber gasket that fits between the PB Booster and the firewall I would assume you’re is the same. Let us know how it goes.

Thats great to hear - thanks. Yes, the dash is out and the only thing in the way is all of the loose wires hanging in my face. Seats are not in yet. I agree that the cleavis clip looks like it will be fun but getting the booster in looks very doable with everything out.
I put one door handle in this past weekend and that was really fun
Ah, you got the dash out already. you're home free and should be able to take care of it in no time at all. The clip will be a pain but at least you won't be doing it upside down and dropping it on your face.
Like they say, its the clip on the clevis pin that will make you slap somebody.
Shouldn't be much of a sweat for your car.
And, no, not a gasket on mine either.
In addition to removing the speed/tach dash panel, removing the steering column and the steering column to windshield frame bracket, makes working with the vacuum booster fasteners (nuts) real easy.
Removing the vacuum booster with the steering column in place was one of the worse jobs I've had to do mainly since I couldn't see two of the nuts. I removed it to install a Hydrabeast. I later removed the steering column to replace its lower bearing. Removing the steering column is easy. With the column out bolting in the Hydrabeast was a piecee of cake. I also replaced the steering column to windshield bracket ..it's that grossly heavy cast iron piece. Replaced it with a stamped steel bracket from a 82. It's half the weight.
