I am looking at my dated interior (definitely the 1970's......brown, downtown disco). The carpet is faded. The brown seats, dash, doors, etc and my faded (now orange) carpet. The door pulls are a saddle color, as well as the steering wheel. I am thinking of replacing the carpet, instead of dyeing it brown again. As I am not much of a visionary person, I ask your opinion.
How would a saddle colored carpet look? I would think the lighter carpet would look good, but would like others opinions or experiences.
If it were me, I would change the interior color to a light tan (saddle) color. If the seat covers are vinyl, you can recolor all of the plastic/vinyl interior components with SEM "Color Coat" dye. Easy to do and the same thing that was done to originally color them. If the seats are leather, you need a different type of dye (for leather), but you could get it mixed to match what you use for the rest of the interior.
A very dark interior in a light-colored car just doesn't "get it" for me.
See if You can get some type of cheap house carpet, or even a sample of tan or saddle colour to place inside and check it out that way. What colour are Your seats? I like the way they look in the pics, they are My favorites that I have seen in any C3 so far.
Trying out a sample remnant in the car first is a good idea. Personally, I think the light carpet with the rest of the interior dark will make the car even more dated [disco fever]. But, that's just me... {You did ask for opinions.}
If you like the darker interior, just change the carpet to one with the original color.
I think you may be on to something with the light color carpet idea.
Maybe install a nice wood trim accent kit along with a nice wood steering wheel to go with it all?.
I ordered the wood wheel with the chrome spokes from Ecklers last night.

The seats are the dark brown (trim code 692), just recoved with faux leather.
Thanks for the replies. I may try to put a tan floor mat in the car to see what that looks like.
Has anyone ever seen the tan carpet, brown interior combo?
I've seen that combo in the 1970's...but the carpeting was "****"...
A 'honey' color carpet might look good. It would not be such a drastic change in color tone from the dark interior. A carpet store would probably let you put some different carpet samples into your interior to help you find what looks best to you. You also want to put that same color carpeting on the lower door trim to help tie it all together.

I have tan mats from my other car that I am going to put in to see the color change. I think, after everyone comments and a little thought, that I will go with a lighter tan carpet package from Willcox!
BTW, the combo you remember from the 1970's with **** carpet might have been on Sanford and Son. My car might have belonged to Grady?
