Default sweet 80 vette

we went ahead and bought an 80 vette a few weeks ago and so far were really happy with it. its not perfect but i really love the car its a blast

heres a link to my photobucket with pics of it all cleaned up
http://s1037.photobucket.com/albums/.../1980%20vette/

the custom paint on this car is absolutely amazing. it was done by a guy nick named spook who was very popular in rochester, ny area in the 70s and 80s. theres more pics of the paint in the link

bought the car for $5200 with only 55k miles on it!

let me know what you guys think!

Great buy. A car like this may have sold for almost 2X that a few years back.

So is the spook still around?

You keeping the paint as is or ?

unfortunately spook died 5 years ago and we are definitely never changing the paint it makes the car so much more unique and its an amazing paint job. only problem is theres an inch or so of play in the steering wheel so we might have to replace some of the front end suspension parts but its perfectly driveable, in fact ive put almost 500 miles on it in the past 3 weeks!
car also came with almost new tires but while the interior looks great in pictures its slightly worn

I love the paint job, not crazy about the C4 emblem on the horn button since your car is a C3. Enjoy, be safe ! Congrats !!

Wow, nice find. Originally from Rochester area myself. Knew who Spook was, A looooong time ago. Have some of his work that he did for my birthday one year hanging up in my computer room.

People seem to jump to the tie-rod conclusion when they experience play in the steering wheel, but in my experience, worn tie-rods give a sloppy feel, but not much play in the wheel. Check your rag joint. If that checks out, check for excessive lash in the steering box. The rag joint can be replaced by the average weekend mechanic. The lash in the steering box can be adjusted.

Great buy for $5200, I am jealous!

like others have said, I think you got a very nice deal. I really don't see any way you can lose money on this deal unless you go crazy with mods. Enjoy.
