I am thinking on the bottom and on a julian date style.

If it's got one there should be a machined flat spot near the forward edge. The date is in Julian format IIRC.

Hi aj,
The date is a julian date and it's in the machined area where the supply for front brakes screws into the m/c.
Regards,
Alan

You can see the 4 digits in this picture... 0 338, very tiny. The 2 letter broadcast code (reg or power) is stamped on the front, 1/2 moon shaped, machined boss).

DC = Manual Brakes

PG = Power Brakes

Never saw the date code as it's hidden when the MC is installed on the car.

Hi gq,
I believe the date codes are general visible with the m/c in it's installed position.
I'd think only the flats on the flare nut might hide the date if the stamp was VERY close to the theaded opening.
Regards,
Alan

Your probably right but after using a lighted magnifier and shining a led flashlight on mine I could not make out the date codes. In any event it's not a judged item.

...I maybe wrong, but I thought I once read on the NCRS Discussion Board(maybe it's also in the '68-'72 judging manual)that these were dated for 1970 and later model years.

...I don't recall my old Silver '68 Bowtie/Survivor car master cylinder being "dated". I know my '74's is, but not the Silver '68.

I think you're right Paul but cannot remember with certainty what year the dating started and stopped.

that would make sense. this mc came off a 69 and appears to be original in every way. has the correct casting number, bleeders, faint "dc" stamp..looks old as dirt, and does not appear to have any date code where Alan indicated. so...that may be the case for 68 and 69 cars?

So 0 338 is the 338th day of 1970?
