You're right on with 13 mpg around town. I have a "72 with base 350 and 4 speed, 59,000 miles. I get the same and I have a Holley Double pumper too. You can do better if you keep your foot out of it, but then that's no fun at all.
It was getting 10mpg with it sitting for 10 years and nobody touching it.
I just did a new distributor and tune and it's running a LOT better but haven't gotten the mpg yet. Carb rebuild is next as there's still a studder in the system somewhere that if fixed i'm sure will help mpg some.
