...My block code is T0223CWM. "T" for Tonawanda?...
Yes. All Corvette big blocks were assembled at Tonawanda, New York.
You might want to check the 1973 NCRS Judging Manual or Dr. M. F. Dobbins' book to determine if the Tonawanda sticker was used. I've always seen them toward the front of the RH valve cover.
Note: this engine is not a 73.
It's possible big blocks with painted valve covers did not get the stickers. 74 shown.
Good reading here. Lots of stock underhood B&W phtos.
The foil sticker from Tonawanda was used only on the '68 to '70 big block optioned Corvettes. It was placed on the passenger side rocker arm cover at the forward portion.
I have seen very early '71's with LS-5 optioned engines with this foil label, however I am not certain that they were applied at the factory. A lot of owners have added them, including me on one of my LS6's. I just happened to think that the employee's at the New York engine facility were still proud of making Chevrolet's last special high performance big block in '71!
