The passenger door on my recently aquired '76 sags - which makes it rub when you go to open it. After searching the net, I am able to find a lot of information about the hinge spring (S shaped one) but not a lot of information about the hinge or replacement of the hinge itself.
My S shaped spring is also broken...part of it is still hooked in the spring and part of it was laying down below. I doubt that the spring has anything to do with the sag, though.
Is there any adjustment I can make or should I just replace the whole hinge, including the S spring? Thanks.
You can get a reconditioned hinge for 65.00 plus a 25.00 core charge or so. A new one for about 160.00. or you can get a pin and bushing repair kit for about 14.00 plus 8.00 for the new spring. All depends on how the hinge body looks and how much money you want to spend.
I would be open to trying the repair kit. Any idea how hard the install is? Any special tools required? Do the kits come with any instructions? Thanks again.
