I will wait and see what you guys actually get before I order mine. I bought my vette in 99 at Carlisle from a Canadian who lives near Toronto. The car wasn't even in his name - was still registered to a guy from Vancouver. I found out the car was restored by a guy who was on the forum who bought it from another Canadian vette shop that went bankrupt so there I got 4 owners back without really trying and without really getting anywhere. I think my vette probably had about 25 previous owners. Oh, and I have a letter from GM Canada telling me that my car (based on my vin) was NOT made for original sale in Canada, and I didn't even have to pay for the letter.
Did anybody get any decent info ( windowsticker like ) from the original dealer ?
It looks like most if not all replies here don't, even if the know and find the dealer.

...I'm gonna wait and see what everyone gets before I do my Blue '68 convertible. I have everything plus the tank sticker(actually broadcast sheet)from my '74 Orange coupe.
...don't know if anyone has brought this up, but why can Allied Vaughn get the info for the '77-'81 St. Louis Corvettes? Can't they supposedly get the window sticker/option list for those years just mentioned?

I have the original window invoice document, original dealer sales invoice document, original warranty protect-0-plate pamphlet and original corvette order copy document and the original dealer is still in business in the same location.

Did you have these prior to getting a shipping report?
Wondering whether the dealer, if they're still in business, would be likely to have any records going that far back and be willing to release copies.

I wouldn't bet on it. I have my original window sticker and just for the heck of it, wrote to the selling dealer...who is still in existence but at a different location. I even offered to pay for their time and trouble. Not even the courtesy of a response. Your results may vary.

Yes I've had these original documents for 10 years now. I received them from the original owner of the car. I am the second legal owner. Never bothered the dealership for any additional records as I have more than enough proof of how the car was ordered/optioned from St. Louis.
I found enough info on the piece of my tank sticker to get the dealer # (352) and zone (28) which was Lyman Chevrolet in Kent, Ohio. It is currently the Montrose Automotive Group. I sent a nice e-mail asking for help with the original owner (I have history back to owner # 2) but all it got me was added to their mailing list.
At least I get to know about their deals in Ohio....of course I live in NC.
The info offered by the NCRS would only tell me the part about mine that I already know.

Even if you already know the info, since there is no vin on the tank sticker, the NCRS report will tie that same info to YOUR VIN. And since you have a LT-1 Vert, I would spring for the 40 bucks.
I am in the same boat on my 70 LT-1. But the last digit of dealer code is not a possitive ID. So I ordered reports for it and my 72 which I have no idea were it was originall shipped.

It is my understanding GM required dealers to keep their copies of new car orders for a period of ten years. At the end of that time, the dealer was free to clean out their files and toss the stuff. It is possible a dealer still in business might have kept the records and the information might be available from the dealership provided someone at the dealership was willing to look for it.
Odds are not good of finding anything, BUT someone out there might contact a dealer who actually kept the records and might be able to obtain a copy of his/her original Corvette order. Those would be the very lucky ones.

Hey Keith,
Have you been to any shows lately? Have not seen you again since earlier this year. Good point, you are right, I do need to go ahead and get that piece of info to tie it all together. Regards, Todd

I was at maggie Valley and saw your car in the parking lot. Went to Carlisle and the NCRS nats at Charlotte.
Finally working on the LT-1 but other projects at the same time. Just finished the hardtop for the 72. I have the engine out of the Camaro you saw at that spring show.
Come see me sometime.
Having purchased the 74 from the original owners in Dec '08, they supplied me with all of the paper work that they had, which included the following:
1...original Title
2...original Registration Certificate from 1974
3...The car invoice from Girard Chevrolet in CT.
4...Paperwork from the Bank where the Vette was fianced and the original contract from the dealer.
5...The Build Sheet
6...Original 74 Vette Brochure
7...And all receipts and documentation of mileage and whatever work was performed on the Vette for the 34 years of owership.
8...the only item they didn't have was the Window Sticker, which now I have a repro.
I feel like this was a huge bonus that the history of the Vette was kept intact!!!!
