I'll be curious to see what you get. According to the NCRS Driveline, it won't give you any info on your car's options, only the dealer name to which it was delivered and the date.
If they have your VIN, you should get dealer name, address, code, and the date the car was supposed to have shipped.
Date shipped should be close to your time build code.
I read something to the effect "date shipped" was supposed to have been the date the car was produced (time/build) but it can't be -- they had to assemble them before they could ship them.
I am also not sure if this minor info supplied helps me any.
If I had a tank sticker, this info could confirm it's correct, but only having the dealer info....
I guess if you currently have zero info on the history of your car today, $40.00 bucks is a small price to pay to establish a starting point for additional info that may be out there to narrow down your search.

exactly.........
Having the original dealer info starts the ball rolling. Maybe still in business, maybe still have records filed away, maybe an old timer that still has a memory left with info.......etc.........you never know.
I have my tank sticker, the only part thats hard to read it the dealer & zone info.........i have also traced all info & owners back to a dead end in 1978 so i'm hoping to piece the rest of it together. For $40.00 thats a drop in the bucket in relation to all the other money we spend on these cars & the hobby !! I think my car was sold new at Sandlin Motors In Mt. Pleasent TX............LETS SEE ?
I'm glad you became a member, on the NCRS Forum, you will be astounded by how helpful others members can be with questions regarding the hobby. I have been a member for almost 19 years and have enjoyed every minute of it.

I requested the report from NCRS (yes I am a member). I have been curious about the history of my cars but have often been stymied by various States' 10-year disappearing records and privacy policies.
If I know the original selling dealer of my 1974, and they are still in business, that may be the beginning of a new trace trail. These things fascinate me. But I assume if no information is found I will be re-funded via PayPal.
...........I know, and i have spoken to several very helpful people there, but one of the old timers recently died. There is also a very well known businessman that people think may have owned it first from that dealership, but he has been hard to track down. Could all have been for nothing, if thats not the right deakership, i thought I had it narrowed down to that dealership..........
lets see if i was correct..............this is VERY EXCITING !!!
I was lucky. When I set out to find the current Vette that I have now, my requirement was documentation. I hit a home run with the 68. Tank sticker, POP, New Car Prep sheet and about 25 years of local repairs completed by the owner. It even had the dealer envelope from Shalla Cevrolet in Detroit. Found about 3 previous owners but my guess is the original owner, Fred Keen, on Kentucky Ave in Detriot has passed. Can't seem to make any connection with him.

With a car so old, yes some former owners have passed away. We all face that fact.
I guess I'm the exception to the rule, I've met the original and second owner of my car. The two were cousins.
I've also visited the original selling dealership in Toronto but just missed meeting the salesman for the car. He had passed away a year or two earlier.
GM Canada has all the records on cars imported by them so there's no shroud of mystery about the options or other details.
