Default shift lock

Hey guys, anyone know if there is a way to lock the shifter on an 80 auto?
My kids keeps going into the car(5) and taking it out of gear.
I fear if its parked on a hill it will roll and hurt someone or himself...

not sure but in the meantime you could use the emergency brake or a tire chock

Lock the doors and hide the keys.

You could always do what my father did in a situation like that warn him once the next time the corrective action involves a belt and a red rear end. Oh yes be sure to have the othes there to witness the corrective action taken.

Skip's solution is also effective.

Yeah,we frown on beating children up north.
I would rather sell the car than hurting the kids

I thought they had a shift lock already to where you had to have the foot on the brake to shift out of park?
My 75 had it from the looks of the wiring in the shifter console but Bubba cut the wires. Look to see if your's is the same.

Discipline does not require a beating.

But discipline is required for the childrens safety as well as others. Locked doors is the second best option.

My Dad NEVER beat me but he did not hesitate to give me a good spanking when I needed it. I loved him dearly and miss him every day that he is gone.

Yeah my friends and I count among our children 4 doctors, one oral surgeon, one dentist, 2 lawyers, one mech engineer, a minister, a bank president and several successful businessmen and women, and you know what! A good spanking never hurt any one of them and they all love us and still say sir and maam and are not only our children but our best friends as well.
