Dodge Trucks -Why?
Last night I had some errands to run, nice evening so I took my 69 out. I didn't get very far when I noticed this truck cutting in and out of traffic in my rear view mirror, he pulled alongside and started revving his engine, surging forward and basically just being an a-hole.
I smiled and waved and just kept my pace, but this went on for about a mile, so I just turned off of that street (even though it wasn't where I was going) and let him go.
I finished the things I was doing and heading home and another guy in a Dodge truck pulls up next to me at the light, It turns green and he takes off with a burnoff, I just left normally and he slows almost to a stop to get alongside me and stomps the gas again. I did not even look at this guy so he speeds off through the traffic and I continue home without any more incidents.
I don't think these guys realize that their 360 ci with flowmasters would'nt stand a chance to a built 427, but I think there were some 'kill' stories being told about the Corvette that knew better than to try

There was a lot of promotion connecting modern Hemis to the ones of the old days. Some suggestion the trucks were race cars?

One kid tried his best to get me to race, he did not see the cop sitting on the corner. You can imagine how that turned out.
I can only imagine how hard it is to act mature with a built 427

Having said that, there is some tremendous HP and torque being produced by those modified Cummins diesels. Amazing for a truck. I pull my 5th wheel with a stock RAM with the Cummins...no mods at all, and even bone stock I have been very happy with the RAM and it's ability to take me over the mountain passes towing my fiver.
I think a big reason those trucks do that are due to the stock 74+ corvettes being so slow. Sadly, they are one of the few "sports cars" that a truck could actually beat. That does make it fun for someone like me when they expect a high 16 second car instead of a low 12 second car.. lol.

And I get my share of other POS's that want to race also, it was just 2 Dodge trucks inside of an hour that got me wondering....
