Default Dodge Trucks -Why?

It seems every time I drive my 69, somebody in a Dodge truck trys to race me.
Last night I had some errands to run, nice evening so I took my 69 out. I didn't get very far when I noticed this truck cutting in and out of traffic in my rear view mirror, he pulled alongside and started revving his engine, surging forward and basically just being an a-hole.
I smiled and waved and just kept my pace, but this went on for about a mile, so I just turned off of that street (even though it wasn't where I was going) and let him go.
I finished the things I was doing and heading home and another guy in a Dodge truck pulls up next to me at the light, It turns green and he takes off with a burnoff, I just left normally and he slows almost to a stop to get alongside me and stomps the gas again. I did not even look at this guy so he speeds off through the traffic and I continue home without any more incidents.
I don't think these guys realize that their 360 ci with flowmasters would'nt stand a chance to a built 427, but I think there were some 'kill' stories being told about the Corvette that knew better than to try

Yeah really... if you expect me to risk my driver license to race you, then you'd better have something better than a truck. The hardest one I ever had to turn down was (no lie) when I was driving my '05 C6 (now sold) to my own wedding, and a Ferrari F430 pulled beside me at a light and revved up. Under any other circumstance I would have done it, but I didn't want to explain why I was in jail during my own wedding.

Were they Hemis? Not familiar with the displacements of Dodges..
There was a lot of promotion connecting modern Hemis to the ones of the old days. Some suggestion the trucks were race cars?

Well you passed the maturity test… feels sort of good to be grown up. I know in my younger years my ego would have showed him where the tail lights were. I used to drive a 911 Porsche and it seemed like every dude with a buzzing irritating muffler wanted to have a go at me. It’s probably a good thing that I do not have a 427 I am not sure I am grown up yet

Down here it is kids in mustangs.
One kid tried his best to get me to race, he did not see the cop sitting on the corner. You can imagine how that turned out.
I can only imagine how hard it is to act mature with a built 427

There are Dodge trucks factory built with the Viper V-10.... they are fast, and many are supercharged or turbocharged on top of it all. Can you say 850HP in a Ram 1500?????

Can't understand your unusual experience with the RAM guys. You did the right thing in ignoring their stupid stuff.

Having said that, there is some tremendous HP and torque being produced by those modified Cummins diesels. Amazing for a truck. I pull my 5th wheel with a stock RAM with the Cummins...no mods at all, and even bone stock I have been very happy with the RAM and it's ability to take me over the mountain passes towing my fiver.

I never have issues with trucks - Its always POS cars. Grand-ams, cavaliers, a sunfire that followed me long enough that I gave in and got on it.

I think a big reason those trucks do that are due to the stock 74+ corvettes being so slow. Sadly, they are one of the few "sports cars" that a truck could actually beat. That does make it fun for someone like me when they expect a high 16 second car instead of a low 12 second car.. lol.

Around here I get it a lot from the ricers and their coffee can mufflers!!! One guy yelled at me to "light em up", I calmly replied - "I don't smoke" and headed down the highway.

Oh trust me, I have a lot of "immature" fun with my 427, but at the right time and place, and in traffic is not one of them.

And I get my share of other POS's that want to race also, it was just 2 Dodge trucks inside of an hour that got me wondering....

I reved back and when that light turned green he sttod on it, i didn't! the cop drove by gave me a thumbs ups and pulled the wrx over. I laughed so hard! Kid totaly got what he deserved

Me thinks that maybe if you remove the rear bumper sticker (Dodge trucks are slugs) you might avoid the problem in the future.

We live near a 4lane that turns to 2 lanes just after an intersection. I was coming up on 2 cars when the light changed, I didn't even need to slow down, I just signalled, changed lanes and went through then signalled and merged left. The little gal sitting at the red light was pissed, she even had to speed to catch me, then tailgated me and promptly flipped me off when she turned! I did nothing illegal, I never sped, and I was nowhere near cutting her off. This never happens in my old 4x4 mazda, or even on my bike. It seems folks have it out for us in thier hoopties!

the last 3 times ive been out, ive had 3 different TT quatros try racing me. im not sure if i beat one of them or not.... i was pulling away from a stop light like i normally do, but god did that TT sound like it was going full throttle. i have no idea what kind of power those things do, or do not make.
