Time has come to put an exhaust on my car, only problem is I can't make up my mind on what to go with. Don't want to spend a fortune on it either. Want something that has a good tone, I've had Flow masters and Magnaflows but I've also
had cheaper mufflers on my old truck that sounded good too. My wife wants me to put side pipes on it but can't find a set for less than a grand. Anyone have any luck with a good set of mufflers that didn't cost an arm and a leg?
I bought the entire system from Mid-America and the system along with the 603-870 really worked out great for me. Excellant sound, and no drone when on the highway.

WOW an understanding wife,an early Christmas present from her.
make sure you point her in the direction of the stainless ones.
Only bad thing I can say is the sidepipes burn the skin off the back of your legs if your wearing shorts and do not STEP PAST them getting in and out.
How are you using the car should help you decide the process of choosing,Do you talk to the better half while driving,Do you want to hear the motor,or radio.
I can talk to my wife at home! haha seriously though I want a nice rumble that doesn't sound like a tin can. I myself like the way side pipes look but thats about it, don't really like the way they sound. I'm thinkin about doing something a little different but can't decide. either put good sounding mufflers in stock location or put a small muffler under car and run duel tips on duel exhaust that ends right under the rearend so from the back you see 4 chrome exhaust tips.
My advice is to take it to a reputable muffler outfit (local shop is much better than a "chain store" that only installs junk parts) and have them install a 2-1/2" aluminized pipe system. If you don't drive the car in the muck and cr@p in Indiana winters, you will be fine; if you do drive it in the winter, you may want to go to a stainless set. The muffler shop can weld all the components together like the factory did, and they know all the 'tricks' to get it installed properly so it is tucked up into the chassis and won't rattle. You should purchase new rear muffler mounts to simplify their task and guarantee that those old mount rubbers don't break 3 days after you get it done.
If you have particular mufflers you want installed, ask the shop if they can get them or if they want you to provide them.
Oh, and take copies of the pertinent exhaust installation sheets from your AIM so they can refer to it for correct pipe placement and clearances.
