Here's a pic of a 69. Not the same view level, but may be of some help.

Why does the fender trim piece look to short? Could it be an aftermarket piece or are some of the originals just that short?

Hi Bert,
I'm glad to see you're still at it and making progress.
Here are a couple more pictures.
Yes there are 2 different pieces of fender trim, 1 longer than the other.
Regards,
Alan

I can measure mine later as the rim is not installed yet, but just lay the trim pieces in place to line up the flat section with the top of the door.

Alan, two different lengths? Thought they were mirror images, same size.

Jim

I measured mine for you. Using a paint stick across the top of the door to the very tip of the fender I get 3/8" on both sides.

thank you guys,I may need more measurements I went out today and noticed that where the cowl sets on top of the legs of the cage one side has a gap of 3/8 but when I installed the cage all of the original holes lined up ? maybe from having no mounts for years could the body have sagged?

Here's a few more of a mint 72 from a cruise last summer. You'll see that there's a lot of variations in the positions of the trim part from car to car.

Hi z10,
The 'scallop' on the trim piece's outer end changed early on. In 68 it wasn't as pronounced and long, so it didn't extend as close to the front of the door as the later piece does.
I'm looking for a picture but cant find it. Sorry!
Regards,
Alan
