Everytime Kevin orders a part ...

The transmission is rebuilt, the new calipers and brake lines are on, and Kevin's ordered and ordered and ordered.

These arrived today...

(The oilpan is already painted orange now.
)

If you saw how worn the old one is, you would truly appreciate this new one below!

oooo, and this new one has no worn ridges....

He also had the flywheel resurfaced yesterday, so it's all smooth and pretty.

Sigforty,
I am sorry I did not take any pictures of the transmission rebuild kit when it arrived. I was impressed with it though. It arrived on time, everything was packaged adequately with no damage, and all the parts fit perfectly.
The reason I opted for a new oil pan and timing chain cover is because Bubba has been all over this car :wily:.
The front of the oil pan looked like he used a spatula to apply the silicone. I actually had to cut through 1/2 of silicone to get to the front two oil pan bolts.
When I got the timing cover off I discovered why...The gasket channel in the bottom of the cover was bent in every direction possible (except straight). Bubba apparently hadn't been told that you have to have the timing cover in place before you bolt on the oil pan. It looks like he used a BFH
to try and beat the cover on, then when he realized that the channel was bent he pried half of it back out with a screwdriver.
No telling how he finally got it together, but later when it leaked like crazy he just squeezed a couple of tubes of silicone around the outside of the seam to "seal" it up.
Both the oil pan and timing cover had been repaired too. The pan looks like a connecting rod went through it at some point, and Bubba bent it back in shape and brazed it back together. The timing cover had been cracked and brazed (not sure if it was at the same time as the oil pan, or when Bubba was
in on it).
Liz told me that this is not the original 327 in this car, so I suspect the original engine was grenaded and they just bought a short block for it and re-used the original oil pan after they "fixed" it. The bell housing also has a small hole in it that looks like it was caused by shrapnel from the inside, so I bet they exploded the clutch too.
It is already lowered. And even if it weren't...I'm friggin tired.
