What (if anything) do you think I should offer for this engine? Think I can tear it down and media blast it or try to fix it up and get it working again?

Pull the heads off and see what conditions the cylinders, and all internals are in. It looks like it's been sitting for a while. The insides must look nasty since the lifter valley area was left uncovered. A lot of water must have gone inside and caused lots of rust. Let us know how it goes. Good luck.

That either a buick, pontiac or oldsmobile....definetly not a Chevy either way... stop at the DR's office and get a tetanus shot before opening that baby up.

Head casting number i see in pick 8-1238145 shows as a buick head.

As long as the block isn't cracked my guess would be yes.

If you have a boat,,,use it in that , for an anchor
otherwise why bother, probably pick up a good dependable crate motor for not much more then you'd have into that slug. Peace,,,moosie

it could be salvageable but the cost of having a machine shop rework it would probably be more than a new short block. just my 10cent
