Default 1981 intake manilfold

Hi everyone, I have a question that i haven't been able to confirm an answer for and i'm hoping someone can help me or point me in the right direction. I've checked the forum on here and some say the 81 vette came with an aluminum intake manifold, some say it even came with an edelbrock 2101 intake, my question is what is the correct intake for an L81? I have a numbers matching car but would like to upgrade a few things on it including induction. I have a holley 600cfm carb(4160c) and was going to buy an edelbrock aluminum intake(#2101) but maybe not now. I should mention the original quadrajet is long gone(distributor too) and was so before i bought it. Will the holley fit my intake? And is there numbers on the intake that will tell me what it is without taking it apart? I have a shop manual for my 81 but it is just easier to use this forum. Appreciate any info. Jeff

My intake manifold on is aluminum on my 81. The casting also says chevrolet. The bolt pattern is for quadrajet only, not for square bore Holley. I plan on removing the engine and storing away. I have a new 383 vortec just waiting to be placed in. If I ever sell the car I can always reinstall the oringinal motor if needed. Al

Check out the link below. I have my factory intake and CCC carb up for sale and some good pics of it. You should be able to compare and confirm what you have. If you have any questions shoot me a PM and I can go look at mine since it so easy to inspect being off the car.

Thank you for the replies. My intake does have GM#14033058 on it. Glad I didn't buy the edelbrock. You learn something new everyday! I have spent atleast an hour or so on google trying to find info on this and could not find anything. Some sites i have been on list all kinds of weight savings that GM did to the 81 such as fiberglass leaf spring, magnesium valve covers, thinner door glass and stainless exhaust manifolds but no mention of the intake manifold which I would think would be a great deal of weight saved! Did Edelbrock actually make these manifolds for GM? There are things that the shop manual or google can't even help with, lol. Again Thanks!
