Installing new speedometer cable
I bought a Delco replacement speedometer cable from Dr Rebuild. When ordering the sales person indicated I'd need a tube of lubricant. Seemed odd, it's a new cable...
I just installed the cable this evening. Noted the cable was already greased by the manufacturer. The lubricant Dr Rebuild sent was a graphite lock lubricant, a powder. Can't imagine putting that on a new cable which is already greased...
Anybody replace the speedo cable, Delco replacement? Worked OK out of the bag or did it need to be wiped down and lubricated with graphite?
I haven't installed the instrument panel yet, wondering whether I need to do anything more before I button it up. I HATE working with the dash so I'm trying to get things right the first time.
