Does anyone remember how this was or can point me to the link?
Which way are you taking it apart? If you use a floor jack and raise the car by the a-arm and then use a jack stand to catch the car when lowering it, the arm will swing out without issue when you let the jack down.

The post I saw had a member that had made a tool that sat on top o the lift arm of a floor jack. The tool was a base piece of steel with a special cut piece welded to it, that the inner lower cross shaft rode in.
Onc the car was jacked up to allow the lower A Arm to swing down you would raise the jack and tool to the bottom of the A Arm and remove the 1 rear and 2 front bolts. You would then lower the jack slowly to release the spring , could still use a spring compressor for additional safety.
The tool was a home made version of a GM tool that is either very expensive or NLA
Thanks

Your last two comments were right. It was way expensive and is no longer available. The tool was made by Kent Moore Tools.
You know, I remember that post and it seems like it was a year or longer old. I"m not sure and I searched with no luck either.
