Believe it or not, this all started with a bad clutch. My '76 needed a new clutch, so I figured I would right of way have the 106k mile original L82 engine rebuilt. Then I thought I should put in a new Kiesler 5 speed. Then I thought I would do the rack and pinion "steeroids" install with a C4 suspension. Of course the whole engine compartment was detailed right of way. Then my friends shamed me into painting the car. Well the paint is almost complete and now I am thinking interior. Who has the best interior package. Is it worth having the seats done (seat foam and all) by the retailer? thanks.
Hi lof,
I believe that Al Knock seat covers and carpets are very good.
Remember, there are only a couple of manufacturers and that the many vendors distribute those products. You need to ask who makes what you're buying to know the quality you'll be getting and whether the price is good.
I recovered my 71's seats. It's a pretty serious job in order to get good results.
Regards,
Alan
My seats are covered with Al Knoch upholstery. I can't vouch for them, my experience has been opposite all who post on this board. There was an issue with a seam being off on the back of the seats near the release. I had an upholstery shop install them. In my case the shop made up a small brushed aluminum piece to cover the flaw... I don't notice them any longer.
As Alan said, it's not an easy job.
Part of a complete interior kit I bought at Carlisle. Door panels absolutely will NOT fit, bought too long ago for Al Knoch to do anything for me. Originals fit just fine. I may just strip the parts off and scrap the basic panels.
